Benefits from Working Here [Week 12 Question]

While working at Jittery Joes Ive learned to deal with the public and many other things. Its the first work experince Ive ever had. The things that could help me in the future would be the fact that I learned to work with the public, learned to handle money, learned to multi-task and a lot more. All of these things can benefit me either working at a part time job or when I start my own business.

My Future [Week 11 Question]

I would like to pursue a career in photography. In order to get a job in photography I would definitely have to know some other photographers to get my name out there and I would also have to have some type of class that teaches me the basics of photography from lighting to setting to color. I dont know exactly how college education I would have to have to start a career. Most photographers start their own business so I would probably have to have business classes and a business license. Jittery Joes really has nothing to do with the career that I want, there are a few things that could potentially help me. From dealing with customers to handling money.

Goals [Week 10 Question]

Trying to finish my math class is my main goal for this semester. I only need 3 credits to graduate and my math class is one of those credits I need but its a hard class. I hoping to finish it by December so I can get out of here! After graduation I plan to go to The Art Institute of Atlanta and major in photography. I love photography so I figure I would make a career out of it.

Changes? [Week 9 Question]

Working at Jittery Joes is not difficult in any way. I basically do the same thing everyday, serve customers, clean, re-stock and close down and none fo those things are hard at all. The only thing that is difficult is when Im working alone and I have to serve customers and do my daily routine of closing down. Ive gotten used to doing it alone because I have to most of the time, so Ive built my multi-tasking skills which could benefit me in the future. I really wouldnt like to change anything about working here.

Penny Pinchers [Week 8 Question]

Ive never had a job that I got paid for, so I dont really know how I would spend the money I earned. Therefore, working at Jittery Joes and not getting paid for it hasnt really changed the way I spend my money. If I did get paid for working here I would probably put most of my money in the bank simply so I know I will always have some type of money that is mine. Most of the money I get now like from my parents, I put it in the bank and just use my debit card.

Good, Bad and Ugly Customers. [Week 7 Question]

I havent really had any bad customers, Ive just had people that always asked me for free stuff. Its an everyday thing when people ask me for free stuff and my answer is always no. There was one time I had a customer that didnt believe I was selling the products at the right price and there was a little tention but other than that everything has gone smoothly. Since basically the only customers that come to Jittery Joes are my classmates that makes it easier to serve and talk to them rather than serving a complete stranger.

Current Status? [Week 6 Question]

While I tend to feel different on different days it usually depends on my mood that day. Most days Im in a good mood so that doesnt really change anything. The days at Jittery Joes are all the same, some days feel longer than others, some days we hardly have any business, some days we have boo koo people come up here during third period. It all depends on the day wether or not what happens. When we arent busy then I just use my feel time to re-stock, clean, and work on other school work.

Micky D's [Project 1]

McDonalds is a fastfood restuarant. I went to the McDonalds on Atlanta highway across from Best Buy. The address is 3825 Atlanta Hwy Bogart, GA. I went to McDonalds on my lunch hour today 9/22/08 and it was about 12:30 when I arrived there. There were quite a few people in the restuarant when I walked in and Im pretty positive it was because it was lunch time. I dont remember the girls name that served me because I only spoke to her long enough to order my food. She greeted me as soon as the customer in front of me was done ordering. I had to wait about 3 minutes to get my food and she said "It will be a few minutes then we will have your order ready." The guy who actually gave me my food made good eye contact with me and he was very polite when he asked me if i needed sauce for my chicken nuggets. When she gave me my cash back she just handed it to me and said the amount, she didnt count it back to me. She also told me "Thank you and come back." Everytime anyone orders something from McDonalds they ask you if you would like to try a "Value Meal." She did not ask me if I had any other questions. McDonalds is usually a clean and sanitary business but I always check the grade they have for the health inspection, if its low I wont eat there. I was able to see them prepare my food but I didnt see any hand washing but I did see gloves. I didnt realize if any of the workers were wearing hair nets. I had to wait in line for about 5 minutes but there were plenty of places to sit after I got my food. I was very satisfied with my meal and the service at McDonalds.

My Bad... [Week 5 Question]

There has been a few times when I have messed up while working with the cash register. Most of the time I just do something simple that messes me up like a hit the wrong button or enter the wrong amount. But I have mastered fixing it because Ive done it so many times. The only thing that is kinda hard is remembering to do a refund after I mess up because I usually get busy doing something else. Im pretty sure there will be many times when i mess up with the register because lets face it... Im not an expert cash register worker.

This Isnt a Soup Kitchen!?!? [Week 4]

Well, considering I am a student working at Jittery, I have a bunch of friends and most of the time every one of them asks me for something free. All I do is tell them I cant and go about my business. Every person that works at Jittery gets a "free item of the day" and I have given away my free item before simple because I dont want it. When people ask me for something free which is an everyday thing... it kinda gets on my nerves but Ive gotten used to it now. Everyone knows that I wont give anything for free... so they have simply stopped asking me.

Busy Bees [Week 3]

When Jittery is slow, which is the majority of the time, there are quite a few things that need to be done. The main thing that needs to be done when I work 3rd block is re-stock because by the end of the day everything that we sell is running low. Mostly just the snacks have to be re-stocked and only a few drinks need to be re-stocked, it really depends on the day. Other than re-stocking there is cleaning and straighting up that can be done. Since I work at the end of the day my partner and I usually have to clean up a lot more mess because everything is unorganized.

Positive Attitude is the Key [Week 2]

Everyone that comes to Jittery Joes is positive customer, from students to staff to guest. The customers always have positive attitudes towards the people who work at Jittery Joes. Before I worked at Jittery I always was a positive customer as well. Its hard to be rude to the people working at Jittery because they are you classmates. And when it comes to working behind the counter and having to deal with customers every person that wants to purchase something from Jittery have a positive attitude because they are either one of your classmates or one of your teachers.

Coffee Shop Worker in the Making [Week 1]

Working at Jittery Joes is the first work experience Ive had. So far its been fun. Ive learned a lot working here. Things that Ive learned that I think could benefit a future job would be working with the cash register. While working here I have learned to multi-task because Im working on my other class work as well on the computer. There are many things to do while working here such as serve the customers, re-stock, clean, etc. and if you forget to do one thing then things that need to be done start to build up.
